Baby Bird Update

See the baby on the edge of the nextbox "door"? He spent yesterday & the day before standing in there & trying to figure out how to come out the rest of the way.
Today, he finally made it!

A First Glimpse

We got our very first baby parakeet peek tonight! While Roxie (the dad) looked on, and Zulie (the mama) was in the nestbox keeping a close watch, a little yellow & green head appeared in the nestbox entrance. Baby looked around a little, checking out the big world that it may very soon be coming out into, then ducked back in. I was able to get this one shot:

See the baby peeking out? That's the proud dad in front. :-)

Hmmm, guess it's time to start thinking about names...

This Is The Way To Shop!

I love Christmas. I love the lights, love the music, love the "goodwill" effort, love the whole holiday season.

Except for shopping. I hate shopping, not just at Christmas, but anytime. Christmas shopping is especially odious, though, because the stores are ultra-crowded, people are way grumpier than they have any call to be (goodwill goes right out the window in shopping places, let me tell ya), and even the parking lots are completely insane. Hate it.

Usually I start my Christmas shopping very very early, so I can be done by Thanksgiving, and avoid all of that. This year, I didn't really get started until Thanksgiving. Yikes!

BUT. I've done almost all of my holiday shopping this year online.

I'm telling you, this is the way to go. Yes, you pay shipping, but these days it's cheaper than gas. No crowds, no traffic, no stampedes to the sale items (I avoid these anyway - I never shop on Black Friday or any other shopping insanity day), no carting kids who also don't enjoy shopping, no stress!

Yep. This is definitely the way to shop. :-)

Another One

Here's another commercial that cracked me up:

I know. I'm not well.

Guild Wars on TV :-)

In this commercial:

I love it!

Hmph!

One of the middle school students - a boy - was in my office yesterday, and seemingly out of the blue, asked me if I have a son.

I told him no, I have two daughters.

He sort of hesitated, and said "Oh... I saw the Guild Wars poster on your wall there, and thought you must have a son."

I said "That's mine! I play that game!."

I'm not sure he believed me - he left the room shaking his head. Maybe it was just that the idea of girls (really old girls) playing such an awesome game really shook up his "guy" world.

Poor kid.
