A First Glimpse

We got our very first baby parakeet peek tonight! While Roxie (the dad) looked on, and Zulie (the mama) was in the nestbox keeping a close watch, a little yellow & green head appeared in the nestbox entrance. Baby looked around a little, checking out the big world that it may very soon be coming out into, then ducked back in. I was able to get this one shot:

See the baby peeking out? That's the proud dad in front. :-)

Hmmm, guess it's time to start thinking about names...

Great, now I'll have nightmares about a huge yellow-green head and an enormous eye.

How about "Elmo"?

Ack! No, not Elmo, or Barney, or anything related!
Nightmares, Janet? Look at that sweet little face - how could that be scary? After all, he IS safely behind bars... LOL

Behind bars? Okay, now the nightmare will be about a gigantic head with one eye, in a prison. ;-)

We need to know the sex of the baby before it gets a name, you know. It would be embarrassing for a girl to have a boy's name, never mind how many people do that.

Ummm, well...
We actually have a boy lovebird named Sophie. Not our fault - he's adopted. LOL

PS - I'm sorry about your terrible nightmares. ;-p

I like the Elmo name suggestion. That picture is so cute! I want one now but there is no way the boyf will let me...

Why not? Birds are great - I love their sounds. They are very messy, though. :-)
'Course, the bambino probably keeps you a little busy...
And the book!
Elmo, huh? I just can't do it.
Grover was always my favorite, actually. Hmmm. Nah.

LOL, Janet!
There are actually three more babies in the nest box! I was keeping it a secret from my girls, so I didn't tell anywhere... :-)
