Mooned!

Heh. Not like that.

Last night there was a Lunar eclipse, which was pretty cool to see. It was very cloudy out, unfortunately, so we missed some of it, and couldn't videorecord the progression, but we did get some pictures. Not sure our neighbors knew what we were doing out there snapping photos, but I guess they're used to us, because nobody called the police or anything. ;-p

Here's a glimpse of the eclipse just getting started:

and then later, mostly shadowed:

I hope these aren't too dark for you to see, but they're all I've got...

You can't really tell here, but there was a neat reddish cast to the moonshadow (earthshadow?)

Anyway, we had fun watching it, and trying to capture it to share. :0)

More Babies!

Okay, I know some of you have been waiting to see the newest baby parakeets, so here is a video of them in the nextbox. The blue one is the mama, trying to cover them up. One egg of the 9 in there didn't hatch, as of the date of filming. But because there were so many eggs, some of the babies are just about to leave the nest, while some are still partly naked, waiting for feathers!

See?

Cute, huh? :-D

Winter or Spring?

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, so cross your fingers for the big ol' rodent to predict a nice Spring Thaw.

Say hello to Punxsutawney Phil at his website. :-)

Yes, there's actually a club. Not as crazy as that club of old men who jump into the freezing water half naked each winter!

Happy Groundhog Day!
