Public Service Announcement for Bird Owners

If you have a pet bird, especially a parrot, this tip is for you.

If you ever buy the bird a new cage, and take it home in the box, 'cause it won't fit in your car assembled, I advise you to take a really good look at the one like it in the store. Because when you open the box up, take the pieces and the 3 or 4 different kinds of bolts out, and find the directions, here's what you'll be looking at:

That is the full extent of the instructions.

But don't worry - if you swear at it enough, the cage will come together. Eventually.

(Now that it's together, I need to put in the dish holders & door latch, then the dishes & toys, and then of course, the bird. It may take him a while to make the switch, but once he's in his new "house", I'll post a picture).

I'm a Grownup!

Well, sorta. Heh.

Odat posted these 25 signs that you're grown up for good, and I gotta say, all but the computer one are pretty much on the mark... (I do still spend a lot of time on my computer playing). So yeah, somewhere along the way, I guess I grew up. Darnit. :-p

False Alarm

Hooray! It wasn't mono! Daughter started feeling better on Friday - still very tired, but much better than she had been all week. We didn't get the strep test results (negative) until yesterday, but by then she was almost back to normal, and so she didn't need to be tested for mono anymore.
Her sister was sick Thursday & Friday (still has a little cough), and then it was my turn. I just have a cold though - nothing crazy.

So it's been a long, wearying week, and I think it's safe to say that all three of us are happy to be getting back to our normal routine...

And Didn't Even Get A Kiss For It...

No, this post is not about anything you're now probably thinking it is - LOL!

My daughter had to leave school sick on Monday, and has been at home ever since. Poor kid's been miserable. We went to the doctor yesterday, who tested for strep, because she has all the "classic" signs of it, but the rapid-test came back negative. So they did the 2nd test that has to be sent off to the lab, and we wait to see what that one says. If it's negative, and my daughter is still feeling bad, the doctor wants to do the bloodwork to test for mono.

That's right, the so-called "kissing disease". And no, that's not how she got it, IF that's what she has. It could also be one of any number of non-specified viruses that cause the same symptoms as strep & mono. So we're basically in "wait and see" mode right now. And crossing our fingers that it's one of those random, will-go-away-soon viruses, that will let her get back to normal in a few days. Wish her luck!
